More than 31 thousand food industry professionals were present at Espacio Riesco:

With a record number of visitors and an expo already consolidated at Latin American level, the eleventh edition of Espacio Food & Service comes to an end

  • The Carozzi Culinary Cup awards ceremony marked the closing of the most important food industry fair, which brought together more than 31 thousand visitors over its three days, almost 25% more than the previous year.

Espacio Food & Service concluded its eleventh version on Thursday. In more than 25 thousand square meters of exhibition space, there were almost 1,000 stands linked to the food market, where products, services and innovations were presented to more than 31 thousand attendees during the three days of the event at Espacio Riesco.

Andrés Ilabaca, commercial director of Espacio Food & Service, said that "we are very pleased that our event, which this year attracted more than 30,000 people, has consolidated itself as the main showcase for the sector and continues to give visibility to hundreds of innovative ventures, generating opportunities that will be a great contribution for tomorrow".

This year, the bread and sea pavilions stood out among the exhibits that attracted the most attention, the latter being a true milestone, since it is the first time that it has been held in its entirety with the entire chain of suppliers and business partners.

To Italy the tickets: students were crowned in the first version of "Young Pastry Chefs".

During the three days of the fair, different awards were given to innovative proposals, which shone with their own light.

After a hard-fought competition that took place at Espacio Food and Service 2023, two gastronomy students, Antonia González and María Jesús Moreno, were crowned the winners of the first version of the Young Chilean Pastry Chefs Championship. This achievement not only represents a before and after in their careers, but also a unique opportunity to represent Chile at the prestigious SIGEP fair in Rimini, Italy in January 2024.

Antonia González, one of the two winners, declared that "This achievement is not only ours; it is the result of the unconditional support of our families, of my teachers and classmates, and of all the gastronomy lovers who inspire us to constantly improve ourselves".

Nutrisco, sponsor of the current edition of the fair, granted $3 million -with the possibility of increasing to $5 million in one year- to the Chilean startup Arcom, which specializes in the construction of modules to assist small and medium-sized food producers, providing them with the necessary infrastructure to comply with the rigorous sanitary standards required.

Another activity that attracted attention was the award for the best marraqueta 2023, with Jargui 2 bakery as the winner.

The country pavilions, led by Brazil, the USA and Argentina, also attracted the attention of visitors, showing the public the latest trends in products already being sold in the Chilean market.

The permanent activities that took place in the interactive and demonstration kitchens, tastings, plan based seminars, the Fegach awards ceremony and the presentation of new members of Les Toques Blanches, among others, are worthy of special recognition. The same was true of the Pizzaiolo Tournament, an initiative that once again brought together all the cooks specialized in this culinary preparation.

Espacio Food & Service culminates this edition with an eye on 2024, the date of which will be announced very soon.
